Fresh strawberries are hitting the farm stands in northern Michigan – is there anything better? I think not – and some of the best can be found at Local Yokels Farm Stand right here on the Old Mission Peninsula at 13130 Center Road.

Right now, Local Yokels also has a good supply of salad greens, herb seedlings and asparagus. Once you buy FRESH produce from our local OMP farm stands, nothing else really compares.

And as I said when Local Yokels’ first asparagus hit the stand a few weeks ago, now more than ever, it’s super important to know where your food is grown, who is growing it, and how they’re growing it.

We have all those answers with Local Yokels. They’re right there on their website, or you can call them up and talk to them. There’s a novel idea!

Owners Ben and Jen Bramer start 98 percent of their plants from seed – in their greenhouses. They say that’s the only way they can ensure they’ll be providing us with the best flavors.

“If we wouldn’t want to eat it ourselves, we won’t sell it,” they say.

In the growing process, they also use sustainable and organic methods as much as possible. Again, quality counts.

Check out a few more photos of what’s currently at Local Yokels Farm Stand. And if you have any questions, visit their website or – yes! – give them a call at (231) 223-7900.
