Boxford police are telling residents to report anything out of the ordinary with their mailbox, and also to watch their pets, after someone taped baby carrots to strange handwritten notes and stuck them in mailboxes in town last Friday.
“One pill and he’s gone… Best carrot think before you swallow,” reads the note, complete with a drawing of an angry face and another unrecognizable drawing next to it, according to a photo of one shared by police on Facebook.
Mailboxes with addresses from 600 to 700 on Main Street received the notes, police said. The day before, the same addresses had pictures of dogs taped to their mailboxes.
“Please notify the Police department if you find anything out of the ordinary in or around your mail box,” police said. “Also keep an eye on anything your pets may alert to in your yard or on walks.”
