Cucumber-producing areas in northern China have been experiencing frequent rainfall. In Shandong, due to continuous rainfall, cucumber prices on the market have risen from 1.9-2.2 yuan/ half a kilo a week ago to the current 2.6-2.7 yuan. The skyrocketing prices are mainly a result of flooding in the Yinan production area in Shandong and significant rainfall in other parts of Shandong.
In fact, cucumber prices have been rising for some time. Due to the intermittent rainfall in production areas this year, the production and quality have been affected. At present, the wholesale price is already at a high level, and it is expected that there is not enough drive for it to rise further.
Based on the experience of previous years, traders make purchases from Yunnan every winter, while in the summer, as it is less convenient to do so due to the high temperature, some traders plan to transport the products from Liaoning instead.
