Sweetgreen’s first New Jersey spot finally opened Wednesday in Jersey City, months after originally being slated to open this spring.
The popular salad chain is located at 90 Hudson St., a 2,900-square-foot space about a block from the waterfront.
Indoor dining is indefinitely closed, as it is throughout New Jersey, because of the coronavirus pandemic. Sweetgreen has an outdoor patio and also offers takeout.
The menu features salads, warm bowls, plates, sides and seasonal items, all of which are customizable. Ingredients are sourced from local growers and partners, according to Sweetgreen’s website.
Sweetgreen is a well-known salad chain among New Yorkers, with dozens of restaurants and outpost spots in the Big Apple, most of them scattered throughout Manhattan.
The company, which has tried branding itself as the “Starbucks of salads,” was valued at $1.6 billion. It was founded in 2007 and has restaurants throughout the U.S.
