The Caithness Group of Companies successfully completed a demerger on 30th June 2020. From 1st July 2020, a new Company, Caledonia Potatoes Ltd, has been created by former Caithness contributors Alistair Melrose, Mike McDiarmid and Robert Doig.

They say Caledonia Potatoes will be ably supported by its Perth, Scotland office team of Andrew Lamont (Sales), Dr Finlay Dale (Science and support) and Sian Mochan (Accounts and more).

The prior Caithness team says they will continuously work in the many areas and with several of the varieties that growers will recognise as having been associated with Caithness previously. “For many of you the change will be seamless, apparent in name only,” they say.

“We continue to strive to bring new, modern varieties to the market; varieties selected to meet the challenges of the future and the opportunities of today. We will continue to strengthen our short chain provenance to your supply of seed and ware potatoes allowing us to offer the highest quality potatoes of all varieties, free and proprietary, to your marketplace. We will continue to seek to create long term associations built on integrity and trust for long term prosperity through partnership,” the new Caledonia team says.

The newly formed Caledonia company partners say they are delighted and excited to make this announcement and look forward to sharing business and better, Covid-free, times ahead.

Caledonia Potatoes’ first major public appearance will be at Coldham on 9th and 10th September, and they invite all interested parties to attend. Feel free to get in touch with Robert Doig at [email protected]
