DHL Express, an international shipping services provider, is going to where its customers are with a mobile pop-up store in Katy.

The company opened a 2,200-cubic-foot DHL ServicePoint shop on wheels at Katy Mills, a mall owned by Simon Property Group. It is DHL's second mobile pop-up in the United States.

“Our new pop-up store provides greater accessibility and a faster, more convenient experience for our customers,” DHL Express U.S. CEO Greg Hewitt said in an announcement. “This innovative, mobile model was installed to address Houston’s growing demand for international shipping services, which has increased significantly since last year due to a pandemic-related surge in e-commerce sales.”

The mobile unit, designed by Flexetail, adds a new option to DHL's 76 retail locations with DHL Service Point Partners in the Houston area. DHL also has retail counters at its service centers at 3300 Claymoore Park Drive and 18705 Lee Road in Humble.

Target opened its first small-format Houston store, totaling 63,000 square feet, at 2075 Westheimer in the Shepherd Square Shopping Center. The space was previously occupied by Randalls grocery. Small-format stores are opening in urban areas and dense suburban neighborhoods where a full-size store may not fit, according to Target. The store, which will employ about 100 people, joins 37 other Targets in the Houston area and is one of 140 small-format stores nationwide.

KTX Home leased 2,400 square feet in the Mason Village Shopping Center, at 21979 Katy Freeway, for its second furniture store in the Katy area. Wes Miller and Kristen Barker of Wulfe & Co. represented the landlord.

Brookwood Community, a nonprofit educational, residential and entrepreneurial organization for adults with disabilities, opened a pop-up Holiday Store in Hughes Landing in The Woodlands through Dec. 23. The shop at 2025 Hughes Landing, suite 900, is being provided by Howard Hughes Corp. Shoppers will find handcrafted items, seasonal gifts and Brookwood's signature poinsettias grown by residents at its Brookshire campus.

Chicken Salad Chick, a chain specializing in Southern-inspired chicken salad, opened a 2,640-square-foot restaurant at 2110 Pearland Parkway. Franchise owners Kim and Clarke Hayes operate the new location, which is the ninth in the greater Houston area. It is the first tenant to open in Pearland Parkway Marketplace, a 17,500-square-foot development of Houston-based Gulf Coast Commercial Group. Nails of America and Lin Asian Café are expected to open by year end.

The Toasted Yolk, a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and cocktails, announced two upcoming franchise locations. A 6,110-square-foot location is schedule to open at Pinnacle Park, at 2535 Gulf Freeway South in League City, in December, followed by a 4,100-square-foot location in Bellaire Town Center, 5103 Bellaire Blvd., in March.

The Round Top Collection leased 2,100 square feet in Baybrook Village, at Interstate 45 and Bay Area Boulevard, in Webster. Elise Weatherall of Wulfe & Co. represented the landlord. Debbie Adams of Edge Realty Partners represented the tenant.
