Aldi has kicked off its Christmas campaign with a new teaser advert.

The most important fact?

Kevin the Carrot is back!

The vegetable has become the unofficial mascot of the supermarket's Christmas ads.

Such was his popularity, there was an official Kevin the Carrot merchandise range released last year.

And now, we've got the first glimpse at his antics in 2020.

Aldi's new Christmas advert will air on screens tonight - and here's a first look.

The advert begins with a scene reminiscent of 80s cult classic movie, Top Gun.

Kevin is seen cruising at altitude in a fighter jet, accompanied by wingman Lieutenant Turkey.

Kevin appears at ease at the controls, showing off with some fancy flying and even inverting the aircraft as he and Turkey encounter Santa high above a snowy mountain range.

But then disaster strikes, when Kevin is accidentally EJECTED from the plane mid-flight!

The clip ends with Kevin spiralling down to earth, his parachute in flames and his whereabouts totally unknown - leaving the nation wondering -Where is Kevin?

Kevin’s appearance in the advert marks the fifth year that the iconic character has featured in Aldi’s Christmas campaign.

Whether he will indeed be the star of this year’s festivities remains to be seen, as the 40 second film leaves viewers with more questions than answers.

The advert airs on RTE 1 at 21:26 tonight and can be viewed on Aldi’s Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/AldiIreland/

Last year,  Kevin faced an adversary in new character Russell Sprout, and his Brummy gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’.

But naturally, our hero managed to escape their clutches.
