As the government of the state of Uttar Pradesh is working to increase their farmers' livelihoods, the state has set a record for potato production this season. The steps taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the last four years have now started showing positive results. In this sequence, potato farming has been done in all the districts of the state.
Last year, approximately 147.770 tonnes of potatoes have been produced in the state, and until November 2020, farmers received a good price of potatoes. Officials predict that this time, the state will set a new record in potato cultivation.
About 58 percent of the population of Uttar Pradesh is dependent on agriculture but agriculture and the allied sector contribute only 26 percent to the state gross domestic product. On the basis of this data, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took every possible decision to increase agricultural production in the state and to give the farmers a fair price for their crops.
