An Illinois company is recalling nearly 7,000 pounds of ready-to-eat dip and salad products containing meat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday.

Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, Food Evolution, of Schiller Park, Illinois, issued the recall because the products “were produced without the benefit of federal inspection.”

The USDA classified the announcement as a “Class I” recall, which it defines as a “health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

The affected products were only distributed in Illinois, according to the recall notice, which said there have been “no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.”

The affected products were produced “on various dates from Nov. 9, 2020, through Jan. 29” and have “USE BY” dates through Feb. 6. They have the establishment number “EST. 34309” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

“Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it,” the USDA said. “This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

The recalled products are:

  • A 31-ounce container containing “Taco Dip With Refried Beans, Chili, Sour Cream, Cheddar, Onions, Black Olives, Jalapenos, & Red Pepper thoughtfully handmade – fresh to you – Fresh, Fast, Gourmet.”
  • An 18-ounce container containing “Taco Dip With Refried Beans, Chili, Sour Cream, Cheddar, Onions, Black Olives, Jalapenos, & Red Pepper thoughtfully handmade – fresh to you – Fresh, Fast, Gourmet.”
  • A 7-ounce container containing “Tri-Colored Italian Style Rotini Pasta Salad with Salami thoughtfully handmade – fresh to you – Fresh, Fast, Gourmet.”

Consumers with questions about the recall can call 818-837-7600.
