Chowbotics, the creator of the Fresh Food Robot, is now part of the DoorDash team, according to blogs posted on both companies' websites.

"Making fresh food more accessible and convenient has always been core to our mission. As a part of DoorDash, this mission is now turbocharged," Chowbotics CEO Rick Wilmer wrote this week. "The expertise and scale of DoorDash unlock our most ambitious aspirations to enable food convenience through technology."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the brands believe that DoorDash will accelerate Chowbotics' market presence while Chowbotics' technology will allow DoorDash merchants to expand their menu offerings to reach new customers.

"What excites us most about Chowbotics is the team has developed a remarkable tool that will allow DoorDash merchants to grow," DoorDash General Manager Penn Daniel wrote in Monday's blog. "The addition of Chowbotics's capabilities allows us to enhance our broad array of merchant services — which include customer acquisition, on-demand delivery, insights and analytics, and white-label order fulfillment — and in a more cost-effective way."

Chowbotics makes customizable salads, grain and poke bowls, parfaits, cereals and snacks all within a 3-foot by 3-foot space.

"We're working on solutions to help merchants grow in an ever-challenging and changing landscape, and with Chowbotics we hope to enhance that level of support and empowerment we can provide to restaurants big and small," DoorDash said in its blog. "The added expertise of the Chowbotics team allows us to continue to create new ways to bring customers everything in their local neighborhoods."
