Medical expenses: Face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes can qualify as medical expenses for tax deductions or can be paid for with money from tax-advantaged health accounts, the Internal Revenue Service announced. Taxpayers can qualify for the deduction if they have medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of their adjusted gross income and they itemize their tax returns, Bloomberg reports.
Rising quickly: Louisiana administered more than 120,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the past several days, and that number should jump higher this week as the state opens up eligibility to all adults. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 1,174,213 people across the state have received at least their first dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines or received the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 25% of the Louisiana population has gotten at least the first shot and 720,598 people have been fully vaccinated. WBRZ-TV has the full story.
Delivery: Saladworks, the nation’s leading fast-casual salad brand, has partnered with Ghost Kitchen Brands in a deal that will double its footprint across the U.S. The recently signed agreement will bring 60 nontraditional locations to the U.S., including several in Louisiana, though the company has yet to announce specific locations, before the end of the year. Many of these new kitchens will live inside Walmart stores offering some seating, and all locations included in the deal will offer carry-out and third-party delivery. See the announcement.
