HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnam earned over US$2.5 billion from exporting fruits and vegetables in the first nine months of this year, posting a year-on-year decline of 11 per cent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Thursday (Oct 8).
In the period, the major buyers included China, South Korea, Thailand and the United States.
Vietnam is striving to gain $5 billion from its export of fruits and vegetables this year, said the ministry.
In the nine-month period, Vietnam spent $938 million importing fruits and vegetables, down 32.3 per cent from the same period last year, with China and the United States being among the largest suppliers, according to the ministry.
Vietnam reaped a total of $3.8 billion from exporting vegetables and fruits in 2019, down 1.1 per cent year on year, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
